The issue of illegal geysers has become a topic of late simply because price is the issue rather than application of a compulsory standard for geysers.
The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) has issued the release on geysers. This resulted from exposing illegal geysers being produced as ‘refurbished geysers’. Not only are these geysers potentially dangerous, they comply with no parts, never mind all, of the compulsory standard SANS 151 for Fixed Electric storage water heaters.
Installing such geysers as well as authorising their procurement is an illegal action.
