Cervejas de Mocambique is building a new R2.5-billion brewery just north of Maputo with the first stone laid on Friday 7 December 2018.

CDM, or Beers of Mozambique as it is often known, is the Mozambiquan subsidiary of AB InBev who commissioned the move to counter attempts by competition Heineken to seize the market by building their own R1.4-billion brewery in the same Marracuene district.

The market in Mozambique grew over 20% in the past year, and the new brewery, which is scheduled to produce its first batch of beers in the first half 2019, will give the world’s second-largest brewer a substantial presence in that booming market.
